Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. But the gate is small and the road is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. I am the gate; whoever enters through Me will be saved. —Jesus
Religion seems empty because it is empty, but God is real. Religions were created by men, not by God.

Many people are involved in religion to try to win God's acceptance and approval, find inner peace and happiness, or discover the answers to life's questions.

These are desirable goals, but the deepest desire within us can only be satisfied by God Himself, not by religion: the desire to personally know the God who created us.

The Bible teaches that God has planted in each of us the desire to seek Him and know Him personally.
"You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart," declares the LORD. For the LORD searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you. We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true. —Jeremiah 29:13, 14; 1 Chronicles 28:9; 1 John 5:20
But we can never find God in religion because religion is a man-made imitation of the real thing—a counterfeit that promises spiritual fulfillment but never satisfies and leads instead to an eternity forever separated from God.

Think about this: if you had two $20 bills—one real and one counterfeit—even though they both look real, only the real one has value. The counterfeit is not only worthless; you could go to prison if you tried to spend it.

Consider this analogy: religion is like a vaccine—a lifeless imitation that builds up our resistance to the real thing and shields us from ever getting the real thing.
Everyone who hears these words of Mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash. —Jesus
The nature of religion is to imitate the things of God while leading people away from God and from the truth of God.

Religion even promises a way to Heaven that sounds right and looks real, but instead it's a trap that leads to destruction and deceives people until the day death forever cuts them off from any way of escape.

God warns us to watch out for religious deception, and Jesus talked about the eternal consequence of getting it wrong.

Having all the faith in the world in something false will never make it true.
Do not let anyone lead you astray. "Indeed, I am against those who...lead my people astray with their reckless lies, yet I did not send or appoint them," declares the LORD." —1 John 3:7; Jeremiah 23:32

Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord," will enter the kingdom of Heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?" Then I will tell them plainly, "I never knew you. Away from Me, you evildoers!" —Jesus
When most people think of religion, they think of Jesus.

Ironically, Jesus strongly opposed the religious leaders of His day. Jesus called them snakes and wolves in sheep's clothing for wrongly teaching that their religious traditions were equal with the truth of God's word.

Jesus criticized them for judging and condemning others while they themselves were immoral hypocrites.
Jesus said, "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves." Then some Pharisees and teachers of the law came to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked, "Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders?" Jesus replied, "And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition? You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you: 'These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. They worship Me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.' You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks." —Matthew 7:15; 15:1-3, 7-9; 12:34
Jesus opposed the religious leaders because they perverted the holy things of God, and for profit, they exploited the people and their desire to please God.

But most of all, Jesus opposed them for destroying the people with their false teachings that led people into the trap of empty religion and away from eternal life and a personal relationship with God.
Jesus said, "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness. You shut the kingdom of Heaven in men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of Hell as you are. You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to Hell?" —Matthew 23:27, 28, 13, 15, 33
The religious leaders hated Jesus so much for His public criticism of them that they plotted to kill Him to silence Him.

Instead of turning from their hypocrisy and repenting of their sin against God and the people, the religious leaders falsely accused Jesus and handed Him over to the government leaders to be savagely beaten, tortured, and executed on a cross as a common criminal.
When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard Jesus' parables, they knew He was talking about them. Then the Pharisees went out and laid plans to trap Him in His words. The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for false evidence against Jesus so that they could put Him to death. But they did not find any. Then they spit in His face and struck Him with their fists. They bound Him, led Him away and handed Him over to Pilate, the governor. The chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask...to have Jesus executed. Wanting to satisfy the crowd, Pilate...had Jesus flogged, and handed Him over to be crucified. —Matthew 21:45; 22:15; 26:59, 60, 67; 27:2, 20; Mark 15:15
God has no interest in religion; what He wants is a relationship with you.

Jesus declared that most people are on the wrong path, but He invites you to come to Him to receive true peace and eternal life.

The Bible teaches that religion is an obstacle to knowing God because it gives us a false sense of rightness and makes us feel like we have God's approval, inner peace, and the answers to life's questions when we're really on the wrong path.

Religion looks so real that it's able to trick many into giving up their search for a true relationship with God in exchange for an empty illusion that never satisfies.
Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. But the gate is small and the road is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. I am the gate; whoever enters through Me will be saved. Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life. —Jesus
Many others give up their search for God because they're in religions that control them through social and cultural pressures, intimidation, and fears of severe and dreadful consequences for leaving or even questioning their religion.

But God loves you, and He wants to set you free from the control of religion so you can know Him personally and receive eternal life.

How can I find a real relationship with God and eternal life with Him in Heaven when I die?
The LORD has...sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners. Jesus said, "If you hold to My teaching, you are truly My disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." —Isaiah 61:1; John 8:31, 32, 36

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. —Jesus
God loves you, and He's provided the way for you to know Him and to spend eternity with Him in Heaven. His way is not found in religion; it is found only in a personal relationship with God through His Son Jesus. God has revealed His plan of salvation in His word, the Bible.

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. —1 John 5:13
This is the most important question in life, but the answer can be hard to find because each religion promotes a different way to get to Heaven.

What if you choose the wrong way? Eternity lasts forever; it never ends.

The Bible teaches there is only one way that leads to Heaven and eternal life. Every other way leads to Hell, and death seals your choice forever.

How can I know for sure which way is the real way to Heaven?
There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death. —Proverbs 14:12

Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. But the gate is small and the road is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. —Jesus

The Bible teaches that the God who created you loves you so much that He gave His own Son as a sacrifice to provide a way for you to know Him personally and to become His personal friend forever.

What do I need to do to know God personally?
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. —Jesus

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true. And we are in Him who is true—even in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. —1 John 3:16; 5:20

The Bible teaches that God loves you, and He has provided the way for you to receive His forgiveness. No matter how terrible you think you are—no matter what you've done—God will forgive you. There is no sin or offense so great that it can outweigh God's love for you.

Not only will God forgive you, He will never remember your sin; He will remove it so far from you that the distance will be infinite.

What do I need to do to receive God's forgiveness for what I've done?
If we confess our sins, [God] is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake, and remembers your sins no more," declares the LORD. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. —1 John 1:9; Isaiah 1:18; 43:25; Psalm 103:12

God loves you, and He created you for greatness, but the Bible teaches that true greatness never comes from pride, selfishness, or the desire to be served by others. Real meaning and purpose in life is found when we love and serve God and others.

God showed us the greatest example of love and service when He sent His own Son to earth to become human and to give His life for us so we could have eternal life.

How can I discover God's plan and purpose for my life?
If anyone would come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for Me will find it. —Jesus

Christ Jesus who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to hold on to, but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross. —Philippians 2:5-8

Every human relationship has potential for great love, deep friendship, and profound satisfaction, but human beings are imperfect, and we are all capable of selfishness, infidelity, deception, and betrayal. The deeper we love, the more vulnerable we become to disappointment and a broken heart.

The Bible teaches that the only one who will never fail you is the God who created you. He will always love you with perfect and unconditional love.

How can I experience the unconditional love God has for me?
The LORD's unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in Him. Neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor demons, nor the present, nor the future, nor any powers...nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." —Psalm 32:10; Romans 8:38, 39; Hebrews 13:5

The Bible teaches that God loves you, and He is there with you no matter where you are or what's happening in your life. When you're hurting, you can turn to God, and He will fill your emptiness with His peace and joy that surpasses all understanding.

All God asks is that you trust Him with all your heart. If you do, He will fill that deep emptiness inside you with His love and His comforting presence.

I want the peace and joy that comes from God's love and His presence. How do I start trusting God for what He has for me?
You have made known to me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy. If I go up to the heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in the depths, You are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there Your hand will guide me, Your right hand will hold me. —Psalm 16:11; 139:8-10

Our addictions imprison us; they enslave us. They leave us powerless and without hope, but the Bible teaches that God sent His Son to set us free. He's able to knock down the prison doors of your addiction and free you from the chains that bind you. He wants to break you out of that awful prison and bring you into the light of real freedom.

God loves you, and if you'll call on Him, He will set you free.

I want to be set free from this terrible addiction. How do I call on God to set me free?
The LORD has...sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners. Some sat in darkness and the deepest gloom, prisoners suffering in iron chains, for they had rebelled against the words of God and despised the counsel of the Most High. So He subjected them to bitter labor; they stumbled, and there was no one to help. Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness and the deepest gloom and broke away their chains. Let them give thanks to the LORD for His unfailing love...for He breaks down gates of bronze and cuts through bars of iron. —Isaiah 61:1; Psalm 107:10-16

The Bible teaches that the rapture will occur in the near future.

Millions of people will disappear suddenly, mysteriously, and simultaneously without warning all over the world when God gathers His people and takes them home to Heaven, rescuing them from the coming tribulation.
The Son of Man...will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and the other left. The day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. For the Lord Himself will descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. —Matthew 24:30, 31, 40, 41; 1 Thessalonians 5:2; 4:16, 17
The Bible teaches that the seven-year tribulation will begin soon after the rapture.

The world will endure natural and man-made disasters, widespread famine and starvation, infectious disease pandemics, and world war, together leaving more than a billion dead in just seven years.
For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. Unless those days had been cut short, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short. —Matthew 24:21, 7, 22
The Bible teaches that an evil but charismatic man will receive power from Satan to rule the world with absolute authority during the tribulation.

He will require everyone to take a permanent identification on the hand or forehead to be able to earn an income, sell anything, or buy anything—even to buy food and water for survival.

Unfortunately, those who take the permanent identification on the body will never be allowed to enter Heaven and will have no possibility of ever receiving eternal life.
He was given power to make war against the saints and to conquer them. And he was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation. All inhabitants of the earth will worship him. He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is [his] name...or the number of his name...666. If anyone worships [him] and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand, he...will be tormented with burning sulfur...for ever and ever. There is no rest day or night for those who worship [him] and his image, or for anyone who receives the mark of his name. —Revelation 13:7, 8, 16-18; 14:9-11
The Bible teaches that the tribulation will end with the greatest world war in human history. This war will be waged for final and absolute control by one power over the entire world.

More people will die in this war than in all previous wars combined. It will threaten to end all life on earth and turn the planet into a cinder. But God will intervene to save Man from himself and to rescue him from total extinction.
The kings of the whole world...gather...for the battle on the great day of God Almighty. Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon. For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will. Unless those days had been cut short, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. —Revelation 16:14, 16; Matthew 24:21, 22, 30, 27
The Bible teaches that these events will occur at the end of this age, but no one knows the day or the hour when they will begin; it could all begin at any moment.

The worst place to be during the tribulation is on Earth, but if you receive God's free gift of eternal life, you will be caught up to Heaven in the rapture before these awful events begin.

What can I do if I miss the rapture, and I'm left behind?
As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. "Tell us," they said, "when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming and of the end of the age?" Jesus answered, "When you see all these things, recognize that it is near, right at the door. But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of Heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Therefore be on the alert, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. For this reason you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect Him." —Matthew 24:3, 4, 33, 36, 42, 44
There's no need to miss the rapture and be left behind.

God has provided a way for you to receive eternal life right now so you can know for sure you'll go to Heaven in the rapture or when you die—whichever comes first.

But if you reject God's only way to Heaven and miss the rapture, you'll be faced with an unimaginable and terrifying choice:
"In the last days," God says, "I will pour out my Spirit on all people. I will show wonders in the sky above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. How shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation? —Acts 2:17, 19-21; 2 Peter 3:9, 10; Hebrews 2:3
If you don't take the permanent identification on your body, you won't survive the tribulation; you may even be executed as an enemy of the state.

But if you do take the permanent identification on your body, your eternal fate will be sealed forever. You'll never be able to receive eternal life, and you won't be allowed to enter Heaven when you die.

How can I receive eternal life now and know for sure I'll go to Heaven in the rapture or when I die?
He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is [his] name...or the number of his name...666. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded. They had not worshiped [him] or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. If anyone worships [him] and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand, he...will be tormented with burning sulfur...for ever and ever. There is no rest day or night for those who worship [him] and his image, or for anyone who receives the mark of his name. —Revelation 13:16-18; 20:4; 14:9-11

The Bible describes what Heaven will be like. There will be no more pain or sadness, no more sickness or disease, and no more death or grief. There will be no more war or violence and no more hatred or fear.

We will live forever at peace with God, with nature, and with each other. God Himself will live among us, and we will know Him personally.
Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion...and a little child will lead them...for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea. —Revelation 21:3, 4; Isaiah 2:4; 11:6, 9
Jesus taught that everyone who receives His free gift of eternal life will live with Him forever in Heaven after this life has ended.

The Bible teaches that Heaven is more amazing than anything anyone has ever seen or even imagined.
In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. —Jesus

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him. —1 Corinthians 2:9
God loves you, and He offers you His free gift of eternal life.

The Bible teaches that if you receive God's free gift of eternal life, you can forever know for sure that you have eternal life and that you will go to Heaven when you die.

Do my good deeds need to outweigh or outnumber my bad ones to get into Heaven?
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not as a result of works, so that no one can boast. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. —Ephesians 2:8, 9; Romans 6:23

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. —1 John 5:13
Many believe that Heaven can be earned or deserved by doing good things or by a religious lifestyle, but Jesus taught that when they die, they will be shocked to learn that all their good deeds and religious acts counted for nothing at the final judgment.

The Bible teaches that we have all sinned and that no quantity of good deeds or religious acts can ever erase our sin or outweigh it.

What exactly is sin?
Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord," will enter the kingdom of Heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?" Then I will tell them plainly, "I never knew you. Away from Me, you evildoers!" —Jesus

All our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not as a result of works, so that no one can boast. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. —Isaiah 64:6; Ephesians 2:8, 9; Romans 6:23
Try thinking of sin in terms of archery: using a bow to shoot an arrow at a target. Sin is like the distance between the exact perfect center of the bull's-eye and the point where your arrow actually hits.

Whether you miss the mark by a mile or just by the width of a hair, you've sinned. Even if you were able to hit the mark perfectly every day of your life, if you've ever missed the mark just one time, whether willfully or unknowingly, you're still a sinner.
All of us like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way. There is no one righteous, not even one. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. —Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:10, 23; James 2:10
The Bible teaches that sin is anything that we have ever thought, said, or done that is contrary to God's requirement of absolute perfection and obedience to His law. The penalty for our sin is death and eternal separation from God and from His love.

If God really loves me, why would He hold against me the penalty for my sin and deny me eternal life?
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony...greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. Your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. There is no one righteous, not even one. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. —Jeremiah 17:9; Matthew 15:19; Mark 7:22; Isaiah 59:2; Romans 3:23, 10; 6:23
The Bible teaches that God loves us and wants to forgive us. He doesn't want to pour out His judgment upon us for the penalty that is due and must be paid for our sin.

Yet because God's justice is perfect, He must collect full payment of the penalty for our sin, which is death and eternal separation from God.

Is there any way God can stay true to His justice without punishing us for our sin?
The LORD is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion. Yet He does not leave the guilty unpunished. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from Heaven in blazing fire with His powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of His power on the day He comes to be glorified in His holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. —Numbers 14:18; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9
The Bible teaches that the only way God could stay true to His justice without punishing us for our sin was by pouring out His judgment for our sin on someone else who was both willing and eligible to take our place as a substitute to pay the penalty for our sin.

Who would be both willing and eligible to take God's judgment and punishment for us in our place?
Sin entered the world through one man, [Adam], and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned. For just as through the disobedience of the one man, the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man, [Jesus], the many will be made righteous. For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. —Romans 5:12, 19; John 3:16, 17
This person had to be human or else He would not qualify as a legitimate substitute for other human beings.

This person also had to be perfectly sinless like God or else He would only be eligible to pay for His own sin.

Because everyone has sinned, who could be eligible to pay the penalty for my sin?
Christ Jesus who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to hold on to, but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross. God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. —Philippians 2:5-8; 2 Corinthians 5:21
Jesus was more than just a good man, great prophet, profound teacher, and wise philosopher.

The Bible teaches that Jesus is the eternal Son of God, the Creator of the Universe, and the Savior of men's souls and that eternal life can be found only in Him. Jesus taught that no one can come to God except through Him.

Why is Jesus the only way to God and eternal life?
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. —John 1:1-4; 1 John 5:12

I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. —Jesus
Jesus is the only one who is qualified to be the substitute to pay the penalty for our sin because He is the only one who fulfilled both requirements necessary to become our substitute: He had to be one of us—a human being—and He had to be perfectly sinless.

Therefore, only Jesus could tear down the barrier of sin that separates us from God.

How did Jesus pay the penalty for my sin?
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. —John 1:14

We have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God...who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. —Hebrews 4:14, 15
Jesus—the eternal Son of God—came from Heaven to Earth to become human. He was born of a virgin; His Father was God. He lived among us for 33 years with sinless perfection. He allowed men to shed His blood as He freely sacrificed His life in a slow torturous death on a cross to save us from God's wrath.

Why did Jesus need to suffer and die to save me from the penalty for my sin?
The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a Son, and will call Him Immanuel—which means, "God with us." For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men. And Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified Him. —Isaiah 7:14; 9:6; Matthew 1:23; 4:23; Luke 2:52; 24:20
The penalty for our sin was death, and the penalty had to be paid in blood.

While Jesus hung nailed to a cross, God laid all the sin of humanity on Him—the only person who ever lived who had no sin of His own. Then God poured out His wrath upon Jesus to punish Him for our sin.

While He hung dying on the cross, Jesus shouted, "Tetelestai," a word in His language that merchants commonly used to signify the payment of a debt that meant, "Paid in Full."
Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. For the wages of sin is death. He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him...and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Yet it was the LORD's will to crush Him and cause Him to suffer, and...the LORD makes His life an offering for sin...My righteous Servant shall justify many, for He shall bear their iniquities...He poured out His life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. —Hebrews 9:22; Romans 6:23; Isaiah 53:5, 6, 10-12; 1 Peter 3:18
But death had no power over Jesus.

After Jesus was crucified, His body was buried, but after three days, He rose from the dead.

Jesus remained on the Earth another 40 days, interacting with more than 500 of His followers.

After the 40 days, He ascended back to God His Father in Heaven with whom He intercedes for all who receive God's free gift of eternal life.

Because Jesus died for everyone's sin, shouldn't everyone go to Heaven when they die?
Death has been swallowed up in victory. —1 Corinthians 15:54

"I want to remind you of the gospel...that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to...more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time. [He] is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. —1 Corinthians 15:1, 3-6; Romans 8:34
God offers His free gift of eternal life to everyone, but not everyone accepts it. If a gift is offered but rejected, avoided, or just ignored, the intended recipient never receives the gift.

Because Jesus paid the penalty for everyone's sin, God's free gift of eternal life is available to everyone, but only those who accept Him and His free gift of eternal life by faith will ever enter Heaven.

Surely, there must be more than just one way to get to Heaven?
To all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God...that everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not as a result of works, so that no one can boast. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. —John 1:12; Acts 10:43; 4:12; 1 Thessalonians 5:9; Revelation 22:17; Ephesians 2:8, 9; Romans 6:23
The Bible teaches that Man thinks he knows other ways to get to Heaven but that all of Man's ways lead to death and Hell, a place of eternal torment and separation from God and His love.

The Bible teaches that there is only one way to Heaven and eternal life with God. God's way is by trusting only in God's Son Jesus for your salvation, not in any of Man's false ways.

I am the gate; whoever enters through Me will be saved. I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, yet shall he live. —Jesus
There are many false ways:

Like trying to outweigh or outnumber your sins with enough good deeds and religious acts to make yourself good enough for God, which is impossible.

Like believing a loving God would never send anyone to Hell. Don't forget about God's absolute commitment to uncompromising justice.

Like believing there's no reason to worry about going to Hell because God doesn't exist. Try convincing God He doesn't exist when you die and stand before Him at the final judgment.

I saw a great white throne and Him who was seated on it. And I saw the dead...standing before the throne. If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. —Revelation 20:11, 12, 15
Or like believing that there are many ways to God and Heaven. If this is true, then God knowingly and needlessly sent His Son to suffer, shed His blood, and die on a cross to provide us with just one additional way among many ways to Heaven.

God loves His Son too much to have caused Him to suffer needlessly if there had been an easier and less costly alternative way for us to receive eternal life.
Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under Heaven given to men by which we must be saved. For if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly. —John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Galatians 2:21
There are many who avoid accepting God's free gift of eternal life because they believe they have all the time in the world to come to God, but the Bible teaches that we don't know the future, so we can't control which day will be our last.

You can never know when death will come for you, and when death does find you, death immediately slams the door shut on all opportunity to accept God's free gift of eternal life.
Since no man knows the future, who can tell him what is to come? No man has power over the wind to contain it; so no one has power over the day of his death. It is appointed for men to die once, and after that to face judgment. Seek the LORD while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. Now is the accepted time; now is the day of salvation. —Ecclesiastes 8:7, 8; Hebrews 9:27; Isaiah 55:6; 2 Corinthians 6:2
There are many who ignore God's free gift of eternal life. You may have felt God drawing you to Himself before. You may have heard God's good news of salvation before, but you've ignored it.

The Bible teaches that God will not always call you and seek you. God may be calling you right now in your heart and mind to make a decision to accept His free gift of eternal life.

Now is the time; you may not have tomorrow or even the rest of today.

How do I accept God's free gift of eternal life?
Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. How shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation? —Romans 10:17; Hebrews 2:3

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him. —Jesus
The Bible teaches that you must stop trusting in anything or anyone other than Jesus for your salvation. Don't trust in your own goodness or in religion; don't trust in nature or in the planet. Stop trusting in your own way.

Trust in Jesus alone, in His sacrificial death as your substitute, and in the shedding of His blood on the cross to wash away all your sin before God. If you do this, God will save you, and you will receive God's free gift of eternal life.
Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him. —Acts 16:31; John 3:36

The Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in Him may have eternal life. For...everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. Whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. —Jesus
The Bible teaches that if you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, and if you have transferred your faith for eternal life from your ways to only Jesus and His saving sacrifice on the cross for you, then you have passed from death into eternal life.

God has transformed your heart, your soul, and your mind so that you are now at peace with God.
I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, yet shall he live. Whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. —Jesus

If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ. —2 Corinthians 5:17, 18; Romans 5:1
The Bible teaches that the God who created you lives inside you now, and He has begun a process of transforming and perfecting you day by day.

God has also adopted you as His very own son or daughter. You are now an eternal member of God's family. You will live with Him in Heaven forever after you die, and nothing can ever separate you from God or from His love for you.
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him. —Jesus

He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. —Philippians 1:6

To all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God. Neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor demons, nor the present, nor the future, nor any powers...nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. —John 1:12; Romans 8:38, 39
Now you can start growing in your relationship with God.

As with any relationship, you grow in your relationship with God by getting to know Him.

You can do this by learning about God, by talking with Him, and by spending time with His family.
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory. For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. —Romans 12:2; 2 Peter 3:18; 2 Corinthians 3:18; 4:6
You can learn about God from His word, the Bible, by personally reading and studying the Bible, by listening to good Bible teachers on radio or TV—try LifeLane TV on this website—and by attending a local church that teaches the Bible as God's only true word.

It's a good idea to stay away from any religious group that teaches any books other than the Bible alone as God's word.
If you hold to My teaching, you are truly My disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. —Jesus

How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers. —Psalm 1:1-3
You can talk to God about anything, at any time, at any place, and for any reason. He loves you and cares about everything in your life.

You can talk to God verbally or silently in your heart and mind. You can be sitting, standing, kneeling, lying down, walking, running, playing sports, driving, or flying in a plane. You can be at home, school, work, church, the park, or traveling. That's any place, at any time, and while doing anything.
Be joyful always; pray continually; in everything give thanks, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. —1 Thessalonians 5:16-18; Philippians 4:6, 7
You can spend time with God's family by getting involved with a local church of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.

It's a good idea to stay away from any religious group that teaches that there is any way other than faith in Jesus Christ alone to know God, to have eternal life, and to get to Heaven when you die.

God loves you, and you are now His child. So let God's light shine through you to the world for His glory.
Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together...but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. —Hebrews 10:24, 25

For where two or three come together in My name, there am I with them. —Jesus

You are the light of the world...let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven. —Jesus

God...wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. The Lord...is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret. If we ask anything according to [God's] will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of Him. —1 Timothy 2:3, 4; 2 Peter 3:9; 2 Corinthians 7:10; 1 John 5:14, 15

The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field. Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. You will be My witnesses...to the ends of the earth. —Jesus

"Let the one who has My word speak it faithfully..." declares the LORD. "Is not My word like fire," declares the LORD, "and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces? My word...will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." —Jeremiah 23:28, 29; Isaiah 55:11

God...wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. The Lord...is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. —1 Timothy 2:3, 4; 2 Peter 3:9

Questions. If you have spiritual or Biblical questions beyond what is addressed on the LifeLane website, we recommend that you seek answers to those questions from ministers at a local church of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ—ministers who teach the Bible as the one and only true word of God and teach that faith in Jesus Christ alone is the only way to know God and to get to Heaven when you die.

LifeLane does not recommend or endorse any particular church, ministry, or denomination. Ask God to lead you and give you wisdom to find a church. Then follow God's leading and use your best judgment. Don't be afraid to admit that your first choice of churches was not a good choice. Remember to trust God in all things.
Watch videos. Select videos from the list below, arranged alphabetically by subject, then by minister's name.
